Here in Portland, a lot of weddings take place in the months of Summer so they can have outdoors wedding and have confidence that there will be very little chance of rain.
I am just wrapping up all the Summer weddings that were in plans this year, and feel very grateful for everything that has happened! I was very blessed to work with the most kind hearted brides and loved getting to know them and bring all their heart's desire to life on their wedding day! I am always inspired by their personal and individualistic approach to doing the wedding and just love being a part of the team to make it a unique love celebration!
It is so much work during the whole process from the initial consultation to the actual wedding day, and the stress level is very high that whole week leading up to the wedding day but on that day? Everything just seems to come together magically somehow and I often have to spend the following days dreaming of the day's beauty, having forgotten all about the sweat and pain of hard labor that went into it that almost killed me. :-)
But love always prevails, my love for that special bride who found me out of hundreds of others, then decided to trust me with everything and treated me like a friend! And when they take a moment on their wedding day to thank me as I am sweating over perfection, my heart melts by such a kind gesture! Because this is not just a business transaction, I am putting way too much of myself, my heart and a piece of my soul to call this a business transaction. So it is very important to me that the bride is someone who sees that. And because of this reason, I only take a select number of weddings each year. I really don't do it for the money, it does not pay me enough or at least not in my case. But when the bride embraces me with gratitude and appreciation, then that is how I know, that I will do this all over again in a heartbeat. I want to be that wedding florist who is watching the exchange of vows hiding in a back corner with dirty finger nails and teary eyes.
