In the midst of a pandemic and "Stay at Home" order placed here in Oregon, I was happy to help people send their love and flowers to mothers and nurturers, all delivered with no contact method! All the sincere and heartfelt messages of people who could not get together to celebrate touched my heart and I was willing to put myself through a week of insane chaos. I was extremely happy and proud of all the arrangements that went out the door on this particular week, even my husband who was helping me with deliveries stopped his track to turn around and say, "Wow, these are beautiful!"
It was very tiring each day, delivering as many orders as we could. And still had to turn away so many customers as we were maxed out early in the week. And the craziness continued even after Sunday! People were still ordering Mother's Day flowers the following Monday and Tuesday. But on Sunday night, when we knew we had a very successful week of flower deliveries with no hiccups, dear husband prepared a special Mother's Day dinner for me and we had a toast. Icy cold beer and a plate of oven fresh potato balls with a hot sauce on the side! Yes, my favorite treats from a famous pastry shop from LA, shipped all the way out here for the celebration! It was so perfect!
Mother's Day is a very different day for florists I think. I used to be the one receiving the flowers on this day. Just like I used to go to weddings in a fancy outfit and just enjoy. Never did I think that one day I might be drenched in sweat at other people's weddings or getting ready to pass out on Mother's day because of all the work I have to do! And as a florist, I have yet to create a bouquet for my own mom for Mother's Day! She lives in Korea. Maybe some day! Love you Mom, and miss you!
And I am so grateful that I get to live this second life as a florist! I have the most loving husband and a dear daughter whose kiss on my cheek is enough reason for me to rejoice! Just looking at her smile, is the best gift I could ever receive! And every day is a Mother's Day to me.
